Victoria Hanebury-Fraser

Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate

PhD, MA, MBA, RCT-C

she/her

Victoria works with all ages, specializing in clients aged 10 and up. She is a client-centred therapist, practices through a nature-based lens and employs grounding, creativity and self-compassion into her work with clients.

Victoria has had counselling experience in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment, ADHD and neurodiversity, grief, addictions, injuries and loss.

Given her background as a soldier, Victoria also welcomes serving military and RCMP members, first responders and veterans to her practice, as well as their spouses and families.

Victoria received her Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Francis University in Antigonish before serving 27 years as a Logistics officer in the Canadian Army. She completed a Master of Business Administration degree while serving and started a PhD in Management at Sprott School of Business (Carleton University) before her retirement from the military.

Her PhD thesis research was on how both partners working in the male dominated environment experience gender, the stresses of the military on families, and the difficulty military members experience as they leave the organization.

Victoria’s understanding of how a strong work environment can impact all areas of mental health increases her compassion and understanding of others — especially those serving or having served in the military, RCMP and first responder roles — where commitment to work can negatively impact family relationships.

After her retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces, Victoria moved back to her native Nova Scotia, and completed a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University in Fredericton to be able to continue in her helping role.

Victoria also has a small equine facilitated wellness centre in Pictou, Nova Scotia where she and her partner (also a military veteran) practice equine and nature-based therapy with both adolescent and adult clients.
